National Youth Authority in collaboration with UNFPA Global Affairs Canada, has held a one-day seminar for the youth in both Nkoranza North and South. According to Mr. Appiah Kubi Victor, the National Youth Director of Nkoranza South Municipality of the Bono East, their main aim of the program is to create awareness for the youth especially the girls who are ushering into adulthood. He said the program was designed to help curb the spread of teenage pregnancies and unsafe abortions and also help the teenagers to know the right channel to go when harassed or sexually abused by the elderly.
The program was themed; ‘SUSTAINING THE GAINS IN RESPONSIBLE YOUTH BEHAVIOUR THROUGH GENDER RESPONSIVE SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH EDUCATION’. Madam Mary Magdalene, the Health Promotions Officer at Nkoranza Health Center enlightened the youth who attended the program on the causes, effects and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.

The youth who attended the program expressed their profound gratitude to the organizers as well as the resource personnel for helping them know the right place to go when they are sexually, physically or verbally abused.
