The management of the Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly met with the Revenue Collectors of the Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly at the Assembly Hall on the 7th of August 2024. The meeting started at exactly 10.42am with a prayer from Baba Adams. In the meeting, four distinct agenda or matters were discussed.
Mid-year IGF revenue performance was presented by the Budget Department. The Municipal Budget Analyst presented the proposed 2024 mid-year budget review of the IGF revenue. Some of the IGF revenue items recorded zero and it was due to posting problem or errors. The problem was identified and the revenue collectors were asked to write the particular revenue item name on the GCR receipt when issuing the receipt. That the revenue head should also separate the revenue items when closing the GCR.
The Performance of Revenue collectors IGF was raised by the Municipal Coordinating Director. MCD presented the performance of each collector for each month. Majority of the collectors either met or almost met their target and few collectors who couldn’t meet half their target were cautioned by the MCD. The MCD said the revenue head and sectional heads should be reassigned properly to help in revenue mobilization and not to sit in the office. That internal reshuffling would be done.
Taskforce Revenue Mobilization was also talked about during the meeting. The exercise focused on BOP/Licenses and was within the Nkoranza township for a period of 4 weeks. The revenue generated within the period amounted to Sixty-Five Thousand, Four Hundred and Twenty-Four Ghana Cedis (GH¢65,424.00).
Another issue raised at the meeting was Property Rate. There were bills were delays in bills distribution and the team raised concerns such as technical problem with the app software, Inadequate credit for data, Inadequate personnel. With regards to the software the team were asked to distribute and collect on both manual and the app software. The committee entreated staff at the Audit and Administration office to join the team to enhance increase in revenue generation. The meeting ended at 3:05pm with a prayer by Eric Azah.
