The incident which occurred around 01:50am on Thursday started between two shops at the alignment area. The inferno quickly spread to the nearby shops, among them a popular one called ‘Sister Akos where she sells engine oils.` It happened at a time the Nkoranza South Ghana National Fire Service had reported to the masses they were having a mechanical fault with their fire engine but they managed it
to stop the the blazing inferno from spreading and quenched the fire.
Just like many fire outbreaks, it is unclear what exactly sparked and started the fire at the Nkoranza Magazine last Thursday and the Ghana National Fire Service has begun investigations into what really caused the inferno. Speaking to one of the victims who is a motor electrician, he said he is utterly dumbfounded at the incident which had burn down his entire shop into ashes because it has been two weeks since he last came to work after suffering from a fracture in his leg and doesn’t believe the fire started from his shop since none of his sockets or whatsoever was on.
Sister Akos who owns the oil shop was struck dumb after seeing her shop burnt to ashes. She couldn’t utter a word. As for Master Kwasi Badu, he claims he has lost about GH¢30,000.00 and doesn’t know how he’s going to regain this sum of money.
DO II, Joseph Oppong, the head of the Nkoranza South Ghana National Fire Service has cautioned the people working at the Nkoranza Magazine to be extra careful in this dry season since there are many ways which can cause fire outbreak. He assured the victims investigations are ongoing to fish out what really caused the disaster.
