SOD CUTTING CEREMONY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF BONSU,DOTOBAA-ASONKWAA ROAD

On today Tuesday, 14th October, 2025, the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi together with the Member of Parliament Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum and Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Godfred Dapaa cut sod for the construction of the deplorable from Bonsu, Dotobaa Asonkwa road in the Nkoranza South Municipality.

The move forms part of government’s efforts towards ensuring that major road networks across the Region see massive improvements for the smooth transportation of people and goods.

The 11.5-kilometer Bonsu to Asonkwa road, which construction of bridges, culverts and drains, is being constructed at the cost of GH¢ 133 million Ghana Cedis under the COCOBOD’s Cocoa Road Project.

Speak at a short program to kick start the project, the Minister called on the contractor to engage the services of local residents to create temporary jobs for the youth of the area.

The Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, added that good roads are very critical to the development agenda of the President, for which reason he declared the year 2025 as ‘Year of Roads and assured Nananom and the good people of the Nkoranza South (Bonsu, Dotobaa, Asonkwa) area that the region is receiving its share of the projects with the award of contracts for the construction of a number of roads. I am very hopeful that this project will be completed on schedule and at a very high quality.

He charged the contractor, Mr. Kamaldel Sumaila of Fabdonko Company Limited, to work towards ensuring that the road stands the test of time after completion by providing the best of services.

Let me state clearly, as Regional Minister, together with Nananom and the people who will benefit from the construction of this road, that, we will not accept any poor quality work done. We will not accept that after few years of construction of this road, potholes will develop all over. Give us quality road that will serve us for a long time to justify the cost of the project, he added.

Nana Kwabena Tettey, Nkoranza Nefa Hene who stood in for the Nana Kwame Baffoe II of the Nkoranza Traditional Council expressed gratitude to the President, the Regional Minister, the Member of Parliament and Municipal Chief Executive and assured of the people’s readiness to accommodate the contractor and his workers throughout the project.
