FIRST ORDINARY MEETING OF THE SECOND SESSION OF THE NINTH ASSEMBLY OF THE NKORANZA SOUTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY MAY, 2026.

On the 8th May, 2026, the Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly had its first ordinary meeting of the second session of the ninth Assembly in Municipal Assembly Hall, with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the Coordinating Director, Hon. Assembly Members, and Representative of the Nkoranza Traditional Council, Heads of Department, Agency and Units.  Hon. MCE, addressing key developmental and security issues facing the Municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Nkoranza South, Hon. Godfred Dapaa, has called on residents to treat security issues in the municipality with urgency, stressing that fighting crime must be a collective responsibility.

Speaking at the first ordinary meeting of the Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly held on Friday at the Assembly Conference Hall, the MCE urged residents to cooperate with the police and other security agencies to ensure peace and safety in their communities.

He cautioned citizens against protecting individuals involved in criminal activities because of family ties or personal relationships, insisting that no one should shield troublemakers under any circumstance.

Hon. Godfred Dapaa also highlighted achievements recorded by the Assembly in areas including security, education, agriculture, sanitation, health and infrastructure development.

On development projects, he disclosed that several District Assembly Common Fund projects have been completed within the municipality. These include the construction of a three-unit classroom block at Okatakyie JHS at Breman Nkoranza, a two-unit KG block with ancillary facilities at Mim Amponsahkrom, a CHPS compound with staff quarters at Makyinmabre, and the drilling and mechanization of 15 boreholes across selected communities.

According to him, a number of projects are also ongoing at various stages of completion. These include the construction of a six-unit classroom block at Mempeasem, a two-storey Health Directorate building at Nkoranza, a CHPS compound at Akropong, a Municipal Court Complex and the proposed 24-hour economy market project, where site preparation works are currently underway ahead of sod-cutting.

He further revealed that procurement processes are ongoing for the supply of school furniture and the Nkoranza Community Centre project.

Touching on the health sector, the MCE said the Assembly, in collaboration with government and stakeholders, facilitated the distribution of essential health logistics under the National Operations Program. The support included motorbikes for health workers to improve mobility and resuscitation equipment to strengthen healthcare delivery, especially in hard-to-reach communities.

Hon. Godfred Dapaa indicated that the municipality also recorded significant improvement during the District and Regional End-of-Year Assessments, moving from the 18th position to the 5th position.

On farmer-herdsmen relations, he stated that following the inauguration of the Municipal Claims and Compensation Committee in December 2025, the committee has engaged stakeholders and undertaken farm inspections to help resolve conflicts and promote peaceful coexistence.
